Global Radio System (PTT / POC)

While traditional VHF and DMR radio systems remain important communication tools, they also present operational limitations that can significantly affect efficiency, flexibility, and coverage — especially in modern large-scale or international operations.

VHF radio systems operate primarily on line-of-sight communication. Their performance is heavily affected by obstacles such as buildings, mountains, underground areas, and dense urban environments. As a result, VHF systems are generally suitable for short- to medium-range communications but become unreliable for long-distance or nationwide operations.

To achieve wider coverage, VHF networks require dedicated infrastructure, including repeaters, antennas, and base stations.

This increases both installation and maintenance costs while adding operational and logistical complexity.

In addition, VHF frequencies are limited and regulated, which can lead to interference, congestion, and licensing restrictions that become major operational challenges, particularly in populated areas or during critical operations.

DMR (Digital Mobile Radio) technology improves upon traditional analogue radio by offering better audio quality, digital functionality, and enhanced communication security.

However, DMR systems still face many of the same geographical and infrastructure limitations as VHF systems.

DMR networks also require licensed frequencies, repeaters, programming, and continuous infrastructure support. Deployment and maintenance costs can therefore become substantial, especially for organisations requiring large-area coverage or multi-location operations.

While DMR performs effectively for localised industrial, security, and emergency-service applications, it is often not the ideal solution for organisations requiring national or international communication capabilities.

By contrast, modern PTT/POC (Push-to-Talk over Cellular) and hybrid communication systems overcome these limitations by utilising existing 4G, 5G, LTE, and Wi-Fi networks.

These technologies allow users to communicate instantly and globally without dependence on geographical terrain, repeater coverage, or traditional radio infrastructure. Communication can continue seamlessly across cities, countries, and international regions wherever mobile data or Wi-Fi connectivity exists.

Hybrid VHF/POC and DMR/POC systems further enhance operational capability by combining traditional radio communication with global IP-based communication, providing users with both local RF communication and worldwide connectivity through a single integrated platform.
