In addition, it dismisses the chinstrap, sweatband and cord suspension system of the PASGT and instead includes a four-point retention system and a pad system.
These systems not only make the MICH helmet more comfortable but they also offer better defense from impacts.

NIJ Level IIIA Helmet – Protection Details
NIJ Level IIIA helmets are tested and certified to stop the following threats:
.357 SIG FMJ Flat Nose bullets at approximately 1,470 ft/s (448 m/s)
.44 Magnum SJHP (Semi-Jacketed Hollow Point) bullets at approximately 1,430 ft/s (436 m/s)
These are high-velocity handgun rounds and are among the most powerful threats classified under soft armor protection levels.
What It Does Protect You From:
- Handgun threats (up to .44 Magnum and .357 SIG)
- 9mm FMJ (Full Metal Jacket) bullets
- .40 S&W, .45 ACP, .380 ACP and similar common calibers
- Shrapnel and fragmentation from explosions (within certain distance)
